Gift Aid
We love it. Why? Because for every £1 people sponsor you, we can claim an extra 25p back from the Government. So, encourage your family, friends and colleagues to beef up all of their sponsorship money by adding Gift Aid to it.
Corporate support
Some companies may consider giving employees a one-off donation to get the ball rolling, while many operate a matched-giving scheme. This is where companies match pound for pound the amount raised by employees. Just ask HR.
Use your internal e-mail system, newsletter or notice board to let everyone know what you are doing. You could even set up a website or intranet site page to keep your colleagues updated. Ask if you can approach your company's suppliers for a donation. Your company is a valued client of suppliers such as stationers, printers, photocopier companies, as well as those specific to your business.
Consider approaching a company to sponsor your event – you get extra funds and they get the benefit of positive publicity. We can send you some Macmillan leaflets explaining our work so that potential sponsors can see how their money will be spent.
Get that money working
Send the funds raised together with your sponsorship forms to your local fundraising office (cheques made payable to Macmillan Cancer Support). The quicker you send your money in, the quicker it can go towards funding vital services.
Don't forget to thank everyone who sponsored you or helped out.
