Every year around 4,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Bristol, Bath and North Somerset. As this number increases, the necessity for local Macmillan services continues to grow. It is only with your help that we can raise the £300,000 that is required to fund the Macmillan professionals and services that are needed in our local area.
In our area we fund:

  • Macmillan specialist nurses for a wide variety of cancers, including breast, blood, bladder, stomach, women's and head and neck. We also fund specialist nurses in palliative care and a psychologist. They all provide information, emotional support, symptom control and pain relief for people living with cancer.  In addition we fund the Macmillan lymphoedema service
  • Macmillan Benefits Advisers based in Bath help people to understand their entitlements and fill out lengthy claim forms, reducing the burden for the patient. The Macmillan Benefits Helpline will help a further 8,000 people. On average, a patient helped by one of our advisers will be around £2,350 better off through benefits and other awards as a result.
  • A Macmillan Information and Support Centre in the Bath Royal United Hospital provides specialist information to people with cancer. Here people can go to pick up information in the form of leaflets, books and video's or they can talk with the trained professionals and volunteers who run the service to help ease some of the uncertainty that they may be experiencing as a result of a cancer diagnosis.

We need your help to continue to fund this vital work. Together, we are Macmillan Cancer Support.
