    The last five "Grand Tours" have been unimaginably successful in raising over £273,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We have funded:

  • 27 Macmillan nurses, three bereavement counsellors and five physiotherapists
  • an equipment loan service
  • Macmillan grants - to help ease the financial burden on people with cancer. In 2006 we helped 145 patients and their families by giving them grants totalling £51, 686
  • new developmental community nurses.

3,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Cornwall every year, so the need for Macmillan services continues to grow.

Macmillan works with the NHS and other health and social care partners in your area to improve the lives of people affected by cancer today.

In Cornwall, Macmillan Cancer Support is currently funding (based at Royal Cornwall Hospital – Treliske):

  • Head & Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Haematology CNS
  • Dietician Project Post
  • Speech & Language Therapy Project

And in the community

  • Therapies Project
  • Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurse Development Posts
  • GP Facilitators sessions in Central, North & East
  • Benefits Advisor (Citizens Advice Project in North Cornwall)
