Taking part is simple, all you need to do is organise a competition day on any day before October 2008. Each participant should pay a fee to enter (usually the green fees for the day), and this forms the basis of your club's donation.
Clubs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland play a Stableford Competition format, while clubs in Scotland use Stroke Play format. All clubs then send us their eight best scores along with their donation. The winning Men's and Ladies' teams across the nations win a Silver Spoons Trophy.
In addition, each club that sends in their donation will receive an exclusive silver spoon, which can be awarded to the competition winner.

How to organise your competition
Taking part in Silver Spoons Golf Competition couldn't be easier!
1. Decide who will take part – why not encourage both the men and ladies at your club to get involved in a friendly competition?
2. Choose any day up to 31 October 2008 to play the competition and persuade lots of members to join in! Some clubs choose to hold the event on the day of one of their regular weekly competitions or medal dates. Others make it a special competition day. As one date might not be suitable for everyone, allow players to take part on a day that is convenient for them.
3. Complete the registration form and return it to the address above.
4. Decide on an entry fee for the competition – this money can form the basis of the donation to Macmillan.
5. Play!
-
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the competition format is a Stableford Competition played over 18 holes, with full handicap allowance.
-
In Scotland, the competition format is a Stroke Play Competition played over 18 holes, with full handicap allowance.
6. On receipt of your club's donation, you will be sent a Silver Spoon which can be awarded to the competition winner at your club.
